This course compares and contrasts the statutes, rules, and other provisions and procedures of federal and Illinois courts in the areas of appellate review, the effects of judgments, why courts have the authority to enforce their judgments, and how they go about doing that. The course includes a discussion of the concepts of res judicata and collateral estoppel, as well as the importance of the “Full Faith and Credit” concept in bringing structure and stability to court rulings that might cross jurisdictions.
