About the Elder Law Short Course 2025 for Illinois Attorneys

The Elder Law Short Course is Illinois' leading annual CLE program designed for attorneys who advise older adults and their families. This two-day seminar covers essential legal issues such as Medicaid, estate planning, guardianships, and long-term care strategies — all presented by experienced Illinois practitioners.

Offered in-person in Burr Ridge or via live webcast, this program provides timely legal updates, practical guidance, and real-world tools to help you navigate the increasingly complex issues facing aging clients.

Topics covered include:

  • Guardianship Procedures — managing adult guardianships and protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals.
  • Recent Legal Developments — statutory updates, key cases, and evolving best practices in elder law.
  • Estate Planning Tools — powers of attorney, living wills, revocable trusts, and special needs trusts.
  • Ethics & Capacity — working responsibly with clients who may face cognitive or functional challenges.
