This course provides an overview of Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) Laws, how they work, and how they affect elder law practice. The course begins by defining what these laws seek to achieve. It then differentiates between MAID and other terms/approaches, including euthanasia, medically assisted suicide, and suicide. Supporters and opponents of MAID laws are discussed, and the course concludes with a discussion of recent cases and rulings that define the current MAID environment.
