Before there was a LinkedIn® or a Facebook, or even the World Wide Web, there was IICLE®. The Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education was founded over 50 years ago by lawyers who understood the value of sharing practice-based wisdom with their peers throughout the state. That tradition of a social network, in the literal sense of the term, continues today.
Whether communicating the latest developments in Illinois law to a packed audience of attorneys or taking ”pen in hand” to produce user-friendly practice handbooks, IICLE® volunteers form a unique and important social network that reaches out to all lawyers in the state. While technology enhances the interface and broadens delivery options, the concept remains the same: IICLE® is experience and information shared by attorneys, with attorneys. Built on the philosophy of providing practical, informative peer-based education, the Institute thrives due to its connections with and among its volunteers.
Each year, over 1,000 volunteers generously contribute their time and talents as Institute faculty, authors, and planning committee members. Volunteer efforts enable IICLE®, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, to produce the outstanding CLE events and handbooks that Illinois attorneys have relied on for over 50 years. Peer-based education is the cornerstone of IICLE®’s practical, timely, and relevant practice guidance.
