Chris S. Haaff is the owner of the Law Office of Christopher Haaff, in Crystal Lake, where he focuses his practice on family law. Jan Russell has been involved in work related to domestic violence and child abduction since 1982. Ms. Russell is Senior Policy Counsel of the Violence Against Women Policy Project at the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, where she is responsible for evaluating and monitoring policies and programs related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and the response to the Prison Rape Elimination Act and working to improve the Sheriff’s Office’s response to these issues. Previously at the Chicago Police Department, she started the nation’s only in-house program to provide direct services to victims of domestic violence abused by members of a police department and served with that program for 16 years. Ms. Russell previously served as the Founding Executive Director of the Illinois Council Against Parental Child Abduction and as a family issues specialist for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. She has trained more than 20,000 professionals on issues relating to domestic violence and child abduction for organizations including the National College of District Attorneys, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She is certified as a law enforcement trainer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board. Ms. Russell graduated with honors from Roosevelt University and IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law.
