Mr. Bateman is a Shareholder of Littler Mendelson, where his emphasis is in employment litigation, NLRB and arbitration proceedings, and labor and employment counseling. Mr. Bateman represents both domestic and foreign companies in all facets of labor and employment law in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. His practice includes representing and counseling employers in employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour and traditional labor law matters, including NLRB, arbitration, and injunction proceedings. He received his B.S. from Illinois State University in 1976 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1980. Mr. Bateman is a frequent speaker on labor and employment law matters for bar, trade, and educational groups. He is recognized as a Leading Illinois Attorney in the employment law field. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Illinois State Bar and American Bar Associations’ Labor and Employment and Litigation Sections. He has been admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals, First, Fourth, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh and D.C. Circuits, the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois (including Trial Bar), the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Illinois. He has written for IICLE’s EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION and EMPLOYMENT TERMINATION handbooks and has served on the planning committee and as a course speaker for numerous IICLE employment law and labor law courses.
