Keith W. Casteel is a Partner with Samuels, Miller, Schroeder, Jackson & Sly, LLP, in Decatur, where he represents business entities of all types, including profit and not-for-profit corporations and limited liability companies, in all aspects of operations, including formations, contractual issues, governance, purchases and sales, and employment matters. He represents sellers and buyers of farmland throughout Illinois and provides advice concerning managing and leasing farmland. He also provides advice on wills, trusts, and estate planning and prepares necessary documents to implement such plans. He is a member of the Illinois State and Decatur Bar Associations, as well as the Fourth District Committee on Character and Fitness of the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar. Mr. Casteel is a member of the Leading Lawyers Network and was selected as one of the top-ten leading agricultural lawyers in Illinois in 2014 and 2015. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association Agricultural Law Committee (serving as its Chair for 2021 – 2022), the American Agricultural Law Association (having served on committees for awards and membership), and Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, Inc. (serving as its treasurer since 2018). He has received the Illinois State Bar Association Lincoln Award, was a member of the Illinois Secretary of State’s Corporation Acts Advisory Committee, is a Past President of the Decatur Bar Association, and is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Casteel graduated with honors from Purdue University in Industrial Engineering, where he was a member of the Iron Key and recipient of the G.A. Ross Award as the Outstanding Graduating Senior Man. He is also a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law.
Craig W. Runyon is a Managing Partner at Samuels, Miller, Schroeder, Jackson & Sly, LLP, in Decatur, where he focuses on estate planning and administration, corporate and commercial law, creditors’ rights, banking and financial institutions, agricultural law, and real estate. He was named a Leading Lawyer in 2023 and 2024 and an and Emerging Lawyer in 2015 – 2022 by Leading Lawyers Network, received the Decatur Bar Association’s Russel D. Hoerbert Pro Bono Award in 2024, and is a Past President of Central Illinois Estate Planning Council. Mr. Runyon received his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. cum laude.
