Heather A. Bailey is a Partner at SmithAmundsen LLC, in Chicago, where she focuses her practice on employment and labor litigation, including discrimination and trade secret/noncompete lawsuits, Fair Labor Standards Act class actions, labor arbitrations, affirmative action, OFCCP/DOL audits, and FINRA matters for the management side. Tiffany L. Carpenter is a member of Howard & Howard, in Chicago, where she concentrates her practice in matters related to employment and construction agreements. Ms. Carpenter has experience representing and defending clients during individual and corporate depositions and drafting and arguing analytical memoranda, demand letters, settlement agreements, and substantive motions in federal and state courts throughout the nation. She has been recognized as an Illinois Rising Star (2013 – 2018) and as an Illinois Leading Lawyers’ “Emerging Lawyer” (2015 – 2018). Marcia G. Cotler is Principal and Founder of Cotler Law LLC, in Northbrook, where she focuses her practice on employment law. She serves as Arbitrator for the Lake County Illinois Mandatory Arbitration Program, is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and is a board member of North Shore Law. Ms. Cotler holds two certifications in mediation, one from the Center for Conflict Resolution and another from DePaul University College of Law. She earned her B.A. with highest honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her J.D. cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.
Jacinta Epting is a Special Assistant for Legal Affairs in the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer of Cook County, in Chicago, where her practice areas include employment law, real estate, litigation, procurement, public finance, and eminent domain. She also has experience in insurance coverage, construction law, and consumer protection law. She previously coauthored the insurance coverage chapter in CONSTRUCTION LAW IN ILLINOIS (IICLE®, 2004) and coauthored a chapter in EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION (IICLE®, 2012). Ms. Epting earned her B.A. from Elmhurst College and her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign.
Lynn W. Esp is General Counsel for the Great Lakes Credit Union, in Bannockburn, where she provides assistance and advice to credit unions and their retained counsel regarding general corporate, employment, and financial institution law. She has represented management, including credit unions, in employment issues before state and federal courts, drafted employee guidelines and handbooks, and delivered presentations on current issues in employment law. She coauthored Employment-at-Will: A 1989 State by State Survey for the National Employment Law Institute. Ms. Esp earned her B.A. from Boston College and her J.D. from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Steven M. Hartmann is a Partner and General Counsel at Freeborn & Peters LLP, in Chicago, where he is head of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Mr. Hartmann has been peer selected for Illinois Leading Lawyers (2018) and recognized by Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Illinois State and Wisconsin Bar Associations as well as being licensed to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin, and before numerous federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Michael R. Lied is an attorney with Howard & Howard Attorneys, PLLC, in Peoria, where he focuses his practice on labor and employment law and immigration law, representing employers. Mr. Lied is a Member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association and its sections of Litigation and Labor and Employment Law, and the Illinois State Bar Association and it section on Labor and Employment Law.
