We close the year with the FLASHPOINTS Author Spotlight trained on John T. Brooks and Jena L. Levin of Foley & Lardner LLP in Chicago, who are Co-General Editors of and contributing authors to LITIGATING DISPUTED ESTATES, TRUSTS, GUARDIANSHIPS, AND CHARITABLE BEQUESTS (IICLE®, 2020).
Brooks has been the General Editor of LITIGATING DISPUTED ESTATES, TRUSTS, GUARDIANSHIPS, AND CHARITABLE BEQUESTS since 2009, having previously contributed to the handbook as a volunteer author. In 2008, Levin was a summer associate with Foley & Lardner and assisted Brooks and his previous coauthor James R. Hellig in updating their chapter, Charitable Litigation.
Levin eventually joined Foley & Lardner as an associate and took up coauthorship of the Heirship, Adoption, and Paternity chapterand adding other chapters in subsequent editions. Twelve years after first helping with Charitable Litigation, Levin joined Brooks to serve as Co-General Editor for the 2020 edition of LITIGATING DISPUTED ESTATES, TRUSTS, GUARDIANSHIPS, AND CHARITABLE BEQUESTS.
Levin and Brooks hope it will be “a helpful reference guide for trusts and estates litigators in all aspects of their day-to-day practice.” Levin attests to the utility of the handbook from the copies she and Brooks have that are “highlighted, dog-eared, and nearly falling apart by the time we’re due for a new edition.”
John T. Brooks is a Partner at Foley & Lardner, where he focuses his practice on estate, trust, and fiduciary litigation. Jena L. Levin is Senior Counsel to Foley & Lardner, where she represents clients in contested estate and trust matters. Brooks received his B.S. and J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of North Carolina, and Levin received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. from Duke University School of Law.
