This new practice handbook is designed to provide expert guidance to Illinois attorneys and others who assist veterans with such issues as divorce and custody matters, veterans’ benefits, employment and reemployment rights, an overview of each branch of the armed forces and its unique legal system, a resource guide and more. MILITARY SERVICE & THE LAW 2009 Edition is the perfect reference for attorneys, veterans’ service organizations, and charitable organizations that are charged with meeting the increasing demand for assistance from veterans and active duty service members attempting to navigate a complex and confusing system of benefits and rights.

The book began as a collaborative effort between IICLE Press and the Veterans Legal Support Center at John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Brian Clauss, Executive Director of the Veterans Legal Support Center and Clinic at the John Marshall Law School, and Prof. Joseph Butler of the Veterans Legal Support Center and Clinic at the John Marshall Law School, served as General Editors of the book and also contributed as authors.
