Margot Gordon of Monahan Law Group, LLC, in Chicago is the August IICLE® Spotlight Author. Gordon is the author of the upcoming IICLE® handbook ESTATE PLANNING IN ILLINOIS GUARDIANSHIPS (2019) as well as a contributor to ASSET PROTECTION PLANNING (2018).
Gordon approached IICLE® with the idea of writing a handbook focused solely on Illinois guardianships, knowing that the Institute has the capacity to manage more in-depth publication concepts. “I knew that I had more to say about this subject than could be easily fit into a bar journal article,” says Gordon, whose experience includes handling estate planning matters for both high-net-worth and smaller-income clients. She also represents corporate and individual trustees, trust beneficiaries, guardians, and agents. “It has been such a wonderful experience to work with IICLE® and to document the changes in estate planning in guardianships over the years.” As many IICLE® contributors do, Gordon uses the Institute’s publications in her own practice.
In addition to her work at Monahan Law Group, Gordon is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council. She has written predominantly on issues related to estate planning on guardianship matters for IICLE®, the CBA Record, the Illinois Bar Journal, and Illinois Bar Section Newsletters. She is an alumnus of the University of California — San Diego and the University of Chicago Law School.
