The Illinois State Police receives hundreds of thousands of FOID card applications and Concealed Carry License (CCL) applications. There are approximately 2.5 million FOID Cards issued in Illinois and every year thousands of individuals appeal the denial of their FOID and CCL applications to the FOID Card Review Board and, ulitmately, in Circuit Court.
