Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education was founded in 1968 as a Sec. 501 (C)(3) not-for-profit corporation headquartered at 2395 West Jefferson, Springfield, Illinois 62702.

IICLE is an independent, self-supporting corporation whose sole purpose since 1968 has been to provide the highest quality career-long practice guidance and tools to Illinois lawyers and judges.

IICLE is governed by a 18-member Board of Directors composed of Illinois lawyers and judges and managed by a professional staff in Springfield. IICLE offers over 50 live courses each year on important practice topics and publishes over 90 practice handbooks with periodic updates providing "how to do it" instruction for Illinois lawyers as well as several electronic versions of legal forms. IICLE also maintains SmartBooks®, an extensive online research library containing all current publications and forms.

Nearly all of IICLE’s planning committee members, faculty, and authors contribute their talent and time as volunteers in service of the profession. All of IICLE’s revenues come from course tuition fees and publication sales. It receives no subsidies from any outside source. IICLE has no formal relations with state or local bar associations. It does have an arrangement with The Chicago Bar Association to sell IICLE publications at the CBA Headquarters Bookstore at 321 South Plymouth Court, Chicago. IICLE occasionally sponsors programs with local bar associations.

If you are interested in volunteering your expertise for an IICLE project, please contact us at info@iicle.com. IICLE also welcomes suggestions for publication and course topics.
